AFSCME Local 2889-11 Authorizes Strike

This past week, members of AFSCME Local 2889-11, City of Isanti Employees, voted to authorize a strike.  This decision comes after 9 months at the bargaining table, where our Union has been working diligently to reach agreement on a first contract that addresses long-standing wage disparities and guaranteed Employer contribution amounts to insurance premiums.

The City is still not willing to meet these very reasonable asks, and so our local union is preparing for direct action in support of a fair contract.  The parties remain in contract mediation at this time and our local union is committed to reaching a settlement that meets the needs of our members, while preserving excellent service to the residents of Isanti.
