Celebrating Cheryl's Retirement

AFSCME Council 65 congratulates Labor Representative Cheryl Anderson on her well-deserved retirement!
Cheryl became an AFSCME 65 staff member after almost 10 years as a Paraprofessional with Elk River School District where she was president of her 350-member local. She then started working in the Council 65 office, moved to organizing and found her place as a Labor Representative representing workers in Central Minnesota. She's thoroughly enjoyed getting to know her AFSCME coworkers and the AFSCME members she has worked with.
Cheryl's retirement comes after the removal of a brain tumor that lead to a complication requiring multiple surgeries. She said, "My kids asked me, 'how do you make brain surgery look easy?'" During her recovery, she deliberated her return to work, opted for a stress free recovery and chose to retire.
Cheryl is planning to travel during her retirement and has a trip to North Carolina scheduled for later this year. She will also enjoy the company of her friends and family including her 7 children and 9 grandchildren.
Thank you, Cheryl, for your dedication to public service and to the workers you have represented.
