In 2024, the Minnesota AFL-CIO launched their Labor Mentorship Program, and AFSCME Council 65 has two members participating this year! Local 545 and Executive Board Member Jessica Loons and Local 1119 President Dawn Burnfin are learning about Labor Governance, Leadership, Minnesota Labor Landscape, and How to Move Change.

Participants meet throughout the year. The sessions include the following topics: "Overview of the MN AFL-CIO & Mentorship Program," "Labor Landscape in Minnesota," "Solidarity & Consensus-Why It's Hard," "Drafting a Resolution," and "Presenting Resolutions & Creating a Plan to Pass." The Labor Mentorship Program is designed to cultivate new leadership in Minnesota's Labor Movement.

We're excited to see what comes next for these two labor leaders!
