Our AFSCME International staff are bringing the latest version of their Get Organized (GO) program to AFSCME Council 65! Learn about how our Union is fighting back against privatization, our work in grassroots legislative action to benefit workers, and more tools we can utilize to leverage our power in workplaces across the country.

Contract Campaigns
How do we win the contracts we need? Participants will dive into all aspects of planning a successful contract campaign to best leverage worker power through the contract negotiations process.

New Employee Outreach & Know Your Rights
Learn “Union 101” with your coworkers! Dive into the basics of a union and AFSCME’s governance structure, Weingarten rights, what we can accomplish through our union contracts, and more! From there, participants will guide local leaders through a plan for a successful new employee outreach program at the local level.

AFSCME in Action Direct Action Training
When we fight, we win! Learn about how to successfully plan direct actions in your local to leverage worker power and successfully move through an action campaign to make progress on issues that matter to you and your coworkers.

Investigations & Grievance Handling Training
This training offers a great opportunity for stewards to dive into the intricacies of representing members in investigations. Participants will learn steward best practices and participate in a mock investigation to gain experience and will learn about the intricacies of grievance handling, diving into all tangible components of our contractual grievance procedure.

Communications & Know Your Rights
Learn “Union 101” with your coworkers and learn how to best share those lessons across your membership. Dive into the basics of a union and AFSCME’s governance structure, Weingarten rights, what we can accomplish through our union contracts, and more! From there, learn how your local can utilize ActionNetwork, social media and other tools to keep your membership informed and connected, and how to best communicate union wins across our membership.
